Dentine is an edible dental cleaning pill designed to effortlessly eliminate plaque buildup and protect your teeth, ensuring a healthier, longer life for your precious teeth, and making oral care simple and effective. Your mouth is the gateway to your overall health, and with the increasing sugar intake in modern diets, prioritizing oral health has never been more critical. Our teeth are constantly exposed to damaging substances, and while brushing twice a day is essential, it often isn't sufficient. Flossing after every meal, though beneficial, can be cumbersome and inconvenient.

INNER GUM FUNCTIONS:

  • Sticks to dislodged food particles.

  • Acts as abrasive on teeth surfaces

  • Prevents plaque build-up

OUTER SHELL FUNCTIONS:

  • Fits into the grooves of molars and premolars to dislodge stuck food particles.

INNER LIQUID FUNCTIONS:

 PILL CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

The goal was to create a pill shape that would be easy for customers to chew and effectively remove food stuck between teeth. To achieve this, the pill was designed after the inverse shape of molars and premolars. By creating a negative mold of these teeth, they produced a form that fits comfortably in the mouth and reaches into dental crevices to loosen trapped food particles.

The concept evolved from initial cardboard and 3D-printed PLA mockups to clay impressions using a model teeth set. These impressions guided the pill's redesign, followed by size variation testing. A 1:10 scale model was created to showcase layer details.

Outer Layer experience
PILL INGREDIENTS

The pill's tough outer layer, shaped to clean between molars and premolars, gives way to a burst of licorice and coconut flavors when bitten. 

Gum Layer experience

The dissolving outer layer reveals a gum layer containing calcium carbonate and xanthan gum, which removes food particles while strengthening tooth enamel.

Liquid Layer experience

As you chew into the gum layer the liquid layer within bursts open refreshing your breath with a cool sensation.
