About me
Hi, I'm Abishek Prayaga. I recently earned my MA in Industrial Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Before coming to the U.S., I studied sociology and product design in Mumbai. During my studies, I interned across various industries, including interior design, lighting design, packaging design, and pet products design. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for creating physical products, finding joy in the intricate processes involved.
After graduating, I started as a CAD technician for a plastic manufacturing company, where I gained hands-on experience in plastic injection molding. This role taught me about the limitless possibilities of working with different types of plastics and the guidelines for creating injection-molded parts. I then worked as a 3D specialist for a premium contracting firm in Mumbai, creating 3D models and realistic renders of spaces using Italian-grade wood coatings and wall finishes.
My journey continued at a medical manufacturing company as an industrial designer, where I combined my knowledge of plastic injection molding with my passion for design. I collaborated with engineers, learned about designing compound gear trains, integrating sensors, and creating working prototypes using 3D printing.
Driven by a desire to understand the 'why' behind creation, I pursued a master's in Industrial Design. During my studies, I learned to visualize the experiences I wanted to create and used my skills to bring those visualizations to life. I now draw inspiration from contemplation, asking "why is it this way," and seeking the extraordinary.
For me, design has become more than a profession; it is a lifestyle. I'm excited about where my experiences and learnings will take me next. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and I hope you enjoy exploring my work.
